Surge Sees Glendale Past OMBAC

The Glendale Raptors have notched a key win in their hopes of defending their title as they beat OMBAC 33-6 in San Diego. OMBAC have given the Raptors trouble in the past and with the Raptors missing several players to Eagles duty there was a potential for a trip-up against OMBAC. Instead, it was the kicking of Armandt Peens a few key tries that gave the Raptors the win.

Things were close early. James Del Bozque scored the first of his two tries 12 minutes in to give the Raptors and early 5-0 lead. That lead didn’t last as two penalties from Kalei Konrad roughly four minutes apart gave OMBAC a 6-5 lead with 25 minutes played.

That’s when the Raptors took off. A second try from Del Bozque gave the lead back to Glendale and a penalty try coupled with three penalties from Peens and a late try from Sean Mills gave the Raptors the win.

The Raptors will return to Southern California next week to take on Santa Monica while OMBAC will play Olympic Club.
