Coming off a bye week the pressure was on San Francisco Golden Gate to beat Santa Monica last Saturday and put themselves in a potential winner take all match against Belmont Shore next weekend. In the end there was never any doubt as SFGG ran away from the Dolphins in a comprehensive 76-7 victory.

Straight from the start SFGG wasted little time getting on the board. Mile Pulu scored six minutes in and his effort was soon followed by Pila Huihui, Brent Hamlin, and Ricky Reynolds to give SFGG a 24-0 lead with 26 minutes gone. Further tries from Pulu and Huihui would close out the half and a 38-0 lead for SFGG.

Volney Rouse scored first in the second half followed by Jack Rowntree and Opeti Okusi. Rowntree and Rouse would then join Pulu and Huihui with a brace while Bruce Thomas also scored. Huihui would grab a late try to finish his hat-trick. Santa Monica did manage to get on the board late when Stuart Sharpe scored with two minutes remaining.

Although the Dolphins weren’t in the playoff chase they have to be disappointed with they way they played. It was their last match of the season and now they will have a bitter taste in their mouth throughout the offseason.

SFGG will not move on to face Belmont Shore. With Belmont Shore also winning this week SFGG need to win the match in order to hold off both Belmont Shore and OMBAC, who play the Denver Barbarians.
