SFGG Rhinos vs. Denver Barbarians (1:00 p.m. MT; Infinity Park; Live on Infinity Park Match Player)
With only four matches left in their season and currently sitting outside of the top two spots SFGG must all but win out the rest of the way if they want to make it three straight trips to the Grand Final. After the Barbarians this week the Rhinos still have to play the Raptors, OMBAC, and rivals Olympic Club so they can’t afford to leave any points hanging. The good news for the team is that they are running out their strongest current line-up with players like Nick Grass, Tai Enosa, and Tevita Okusi all playing well. They also smashed Santa Monica last week which should buoy their confidence.
The Barbarians enter the match having lost their last two matches although they did come again Glendale and OMBAC. The Barbarians are going to have Max De Achaval ready to play along with the likes of Kevon Williams. It’s a line-up that could surprise and cause problems for SFGG. Additionally, although the Barbarians may be out of the playoff race they will be looking for an upset.
Santa Monica vs. Glendale Raptors (3:00 p.m. MT; Infinity Park; Live on Infinity Park Match Player)
The league’s top team will come up against the team at the bottom of the table in what should be a straightforward match. The Raptors have scored a league high 361 points while Santa Monica have given up a league high 315. That’s not a good combination if you are a Dolphins fan. If Santa Monica did win it would be an upset of epic proportions.
Olympic Club vs. OMBAC (1:00 p.m. PT; Little Q)
Like SFGG, OMBAC can’t afford to drop points the rest of the season. They currently occupy the second and final spot in the Grand Final but are just three points in front of SFGG. That said, OMBAC are playing well at the moment as evidenced by their near defeat of Glendale last weekend. Their forwards are especially coming on strong and the Batger brothers have been a big addition this year.
Olympic Club are entering the match coming off their first win of the year. They have had close calls this year and were finally able to punch through against Belmont Shore. They will be missing Alec Gletzer this week which hurts but they have the confidence to try and pull off another upset.
