Only a couple of weeks are left in the season and the playoff race is about to go to another level. Here’s how things look heading into week 14.
Eliminated: Santa Monica, Olympic Club, Denver Barbarians, Belmont Shore
Belmont Shore became the latest team eliminated from the playoff hunt. Even though they beat Denver by a big margin last weekend OMBAC’s win over Santa Monica now means that Belmont are 12 points back and can’t catch up.
Close to Clinching: Glendale Raptors
The Raptors would have clinched a spot by now had snow not cancelled their match against SFGG two weeks ago. Instead, they sit four point ahead of OMABC and seven points ahead of SFGG albeit with a game in hand. They can clinch this week if they beat Belmont Shore and SFGG either lose or draw with OMBAC.
Make or Break: OMBAC, SFGG Rhinos
This weekend’s match against OMBAC and SFGG is in essence a playoff match. Whichever team emerges from Treasure Island with the win is almost certainly headed to the Grand Final at Infinity Park. For OMBAC it’s win and you’re in. OMBAC are three point in front at the moment which means a win would put them more than five point ahead. A draw also benefits them more. It wouldn’t clinch a playoff spot for them but it would mean that SFGG would have to beat Glendale in their final match while OMBAC would only have to beat Belmont Shore.
