It wasn’t the most high profile match of the three league matches on tap last Saturday but it turned out to possibly be the best as Glendale and Santa Monica played to a thrilling 62-38 shootout. The Raptors ran out to big lead before the Dolphins made a strong second half comeback. With the win the Glendale have kept their spot in the playoffs while Santa Monica slump to another loss.

Glendale wasted no time in getting on the board. Prop Josh Sutcliffe made the initial break before passing out to Cristian Sarmento for the try. Chad London then added the easy try out wide five minutes later to make it 14-0. Santa Monica would halve the score around the twenty minute mark when Harry Bennett put in a nice grubber that was recovered by Mitch Raisch for the try.

However, tries from Dewon Reed, Zach Fenoglio, and Preston Bryant would give Glendale a 33-7 lead. Reed’s try would come as Mose Timoteo took a quick tap and found Reed who snaked through the defense. Fenoglio intercepted a pass for his try. Santa Monica would grab a try back as Glendale made a mess of a pass backward allowing Taylor Manavian to collect and score.

In the second half London would grab his second before Max Statler (twice), Dustin Croy, and Brett Willis would finish the score for Glendale. Phil Osborne had a try for Santa Monica to go along with efforts from Ken Aseme and Sebastien Kamyab.
